`Abd al-Muttalib ibn Hashim (Arabic: عبدالمطلب بن هاشم) known as Shaybah was the grandfather of the Prophet Muhammad and head of the Banu Hashim tribe.

His mother was Salma bint Amr of the Najjar clan of the Khazraj tribe of the city of Yathrib.
