Introduction

Allah (Arabic : الله )

Allah literally means "THE God (illah)"

Our understanding of Allah comes from the prophetic revelations both the books and the messengers. It also comes from reflection and Fitra. The core concept of Allah is Tauhid (the oneness of Allah). Allah is also described by The 99 names of Allah as revealed in the Qu'ran and the Sunnah. The word Allah is closely related to the Aramaic word for God אלהא Elāhā and ܐܠܗܐ Alāhā in Syriac. They all stem from the same Proto-Semetic word (*'ilah)

[edit] Tauhid ar-Rububiya

Tauhid ar Rububiya is the oneness of Allah's lordship. That is there is only one Lord, for all the universe, who created, organised, planned and sustains everything we know off. And there is only one Lord who is the giver of security, the provider, etc.

[edit] Tauhid al-Uluhiya

Tauhid al-Uluhiya is the understanding that none has the right to be deified and worshipped except Allah (see Shahada). That is praying to, invoking, asking for help, swearing by, sacrificing for, the giving of charity for, fasting, pilgramage, etc.

[edit] Tauhid al Asma was Sifat

Tahuid al Asma was Sifat is the understanding that

  • Allah is named or qualified only by that which has been revealed through prophetic revelation in the Qu'ran and the Sunnah and that ONLY those names and qualifications can be used.
  • None can be named or qualified with the attributes of Allah.
  • We must confirm all of Allahs qualifications which are revealed through prophetic revelation, without chaning them, or ignoring them completely or twisting the meaning, or giving resemblance to any of the created things, as Allah says in Surah AL-IKHLAS (112:4) "And there is none like unto him"
