Hisham b. Abd al-Rahman or Hisham Al-Reda ([Arabic]:هشام بن عبد الرحمن الداخل) (b Shawwal 139 (March 757) d. 796 CE (179 AH)) also know as Ar-Radha (the amiable) and Al-Adil (the Just). He was the 1st son of Abd ar-Rahman and his wife, Halul and the younger half brother of Sulieman

He reigned in Al Andulus for seven years and nine months from 788 CE (171 AH) - 796 CE (179 AH)

  • He completed the constuction of the Great Mosque of Cordoba, which his father Abd al-Rahman started.
  • Sakin ibn Ibrahim the historian records the following He instituted a nigh-watch composed of honest citizens, who went their rounds, and if any disturber fo the public peace was apprehended, he was fined according to his offence: the produce of the fines was then sent to such poor people as were found in the Mosques in dark and rainy nights [1]

In 893 CE (279 AH) he initiated a major campaign against the Kingdom of Asturias and the County of Toulouse.
